Second MyWarung Location Reverberates on Echo Beach, Bali
The word on the street is that French-Canadian Chef Hugo Courdurier came to Bali to have more time to surf, but somewhere along the way culinary success got in the way.

When Chef Courdurier and his Indonesian business partner Juan Pierre Anthony opened MyWarung on Jalan Subak Sari in Canggu (near the Canggu Club), the former 3-star Michelin Chef had visions of opening a “home-style” warung serving outstanding cuisine at affordable prices in order to have an excuse to be near his other passion – surfing in Bali.

Good plan, but theses aspirations quickly went off track when word spread about Chef Hugo’s kitchen skills and the cozy “Wabi-Sabi” “imperfectly” executed interior by Indonesian architecture and design firm IdeAnonim.

Containing their success and diners’ shouts for “more! more!” MyWarung opened its second outlet at Echo Beach with plans now underway to open additional branches in Ubud and Jakarta.

But, why open the second MyWarung at the relatively “off-the-beaten-track” location of Echo Beach? No one knows for sure, but many suspect Chef Hugo demanded a location nearer a surf beach in order that he can break away from the kitchen from time to time in order to “hang ten.”

Fans of the first MyWarung on Jalan Subak Sari will find much that is familiar at the Echo Beach location, but perhaps in a more understated way.

Markedly smaller than its predecessor, MyWarung Echo Beach has the feel of a friendly neighborhood pub serving comfort food at affordable prices.

The menu is an abbreviated version of the original, but with many MyWarung stalwarts on hand, including its signature all-day breakfast, L'Entrecôte steak and one-of-a-kind K-burger. And, exclusive to MyWarung is its indomitable “Moose Brand” blend of coffee beans roasted to perfection and served fresh every cup.

And, best of all, prices remain extremely affordable, with most mains priced between Rp. 20,000 to Rp. 75,000. The 250-gram L'Entrecôte Steak including a side of salad and double-cooked French Fries still costs Rp. 150,000. Hearty carnivores can also have a 500 gm version of the steak.

Culinary success in Bali now reverberates on Echo Beach on Jalan Batu Mejan. Open Daily 8:00 am until 10:00 pm.
