A Moonlight Soirée of 19th Century Music in Bali

In its continuing series of evenings dedicated to presenting fine music via Padma PresentsThe Padma Legian Resort in Bali will be the location of a free-of-charge recital by renowned Italian musician and educator, Luca Chiantore, on Saturday, February 22, 2020.

Performing as a concert pianist, Luca Chiantore has enchanted audience at leading concert venues worldwide, including Carnegie Hall in New York, Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires, Palacio de Bellas Artes in Mexico City, and the Museu de Arte de São Paulo in Brazil. He has toured extensively in the USA, Mexico, Colombia, Spain, Portugal, England, Belgium, and Italy.

Dedicated to advancing piano performance skills, Chiantore has lectured and led master classes at more than 150 universities and music schools in Europe, Asia, and the Americas.

Through performance and academic study, Chiantore has focused on the classical piano repertoire of 19th-century Europe. His Historia de la Técnica Pianística, first published in 2001, is the most-read academic text on the piano in Spanish-speaking countries. An updated and enlarged English version of Tone Moves: A History of Piano Technique was released in 2019.

Chiantore is also widely respected for publishing heretofore unknown keyboard exercises by Ludwig van Beethoven (Beethoven al Piano: Improvisación, Composición e Investigación Sonora en sus Ejercicios Técnicos, 2010; Italian version, 2014).

Employed a professor of musicology at The Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya, Chiantore also works at the Escola Superior de Música Reina Sofia in Madrid.

He holds a Doctorate in Music from the Universidade de Aveiro, Portugal, and a Ph.D. in Musicology from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona.

Since 2018, Chiantore has operates a new artistic-research solo piano project – inVERSIONS that focuses on how musicology can offer alternative ways to perform a classical-music repertoire. The inVERSIONS Project is operating a schedule of piano recitals, concert-lectures, and recordings engagements to run through 2021 after visiting Spain, Portugal, France, Italy, Greece, Turkey, United States, Mexico, Costa Rica, Colombia, Bolivia, Chile, Singapore, Indonesia, and China.

Luca Chiantore will perform a program in Bali planned to feature, among others, the music of Ludwig van Beethoven, Frédéric Chopin, and Petrovich Mussorgsky.

On Saturday, February 22, 2020, the doors will open at The Plumeria Grand Ballroom of The Padma Legian Resort at 5:00 pm. Refreshment kiosks will be in operation with the concert scheduled to begin at 6:00 pm.
