Beyond the Myths – Contemporary Art in Bali
Art Bali Hall Opens at Nusa Dua with Major Exhibition of Contemporary Art until November 9, 2018
“Art Bali” - an exhibition of contemporary art displaying 50 works by 39 Indonesian and international artists is underway at the Bali Collection in Nusa Dua through November 9, 2018.
Adopting the theme of “Beyond the Myths” the exhibition opened on October 10th in order to allow participants attending the IMF-World Bank Conference the opportunity to see fine works of contemporary art from leading artists, particularly artists based in Bali. Art Bali was founded by I Made Aswino Aji with a collection of art curated by Rify Efendy and Ignatia Nilu.
Some of the artists participating in the exhibition are Adi Panuntun (Bandung), Agan Harahap (Yogyakarta), Agung Mangu Putra (Bali), Agus Suwage (Yogyakarta), Arin Sunaryo (Bandung), Chusin Setiadikara (Bali), Dipo Andy (Yogyakarta), Filippo Sciascia (Italy), Ashley Bickerton (USA), I Made Djirna (Bali), I Made Wianta (Bali), I Made Widya Diputra (Bali), and I Wayan Upadana (Bali).
Nyoman Nuarta the legenday artistic force behind the newly-opened Garuda Wisnu Kencana Monument will also exhibit works together with Uji Handoko EKo Saputro (Yogyakarta), Yani Mariani Sastranegara (Jakarta), Yoka Sara (Bali), and Yudi Sulistyo (Yogyakarta).
Those wishing to learn more about Indonesian contemporary art in general and the compositions on display at Art Bali, tours of the exhibition by art curators will be conducted every Saturday.
On Tuesdays the Art Bali Exhibition with be open without charge for Indonesians able to present a KTP (identity card), DIM (driver’s license) or Student ID.
A purpose-built structure covering 1,000 square meters has been erected for the Art Bali 2018 exhibition that also includes an outside arena for additonal art demonstrations or installations.
The exhibition is supported by the National Creative Agency – BEKTAF to support the advancement of Indonesia’s creative economy in Bali.
