BALINALE to Feature More Than 100 Films from 30 Countries September 24-30, 2018
BALINALE – Bali International Film Festival 2018 will return to Bali for its 12th edition September 24-30, 2018, when 100 short films, feature films and documentaries from more than 30 countries will be showcased.
BALINALE Director Groza Subakthi told a press conference in Jakarta the Festival has become a showcase for local and international films to the public and a meeting place for cinematographers, producers and directors from around the world.
All films selected for screening at BALINALE 2018 reflect the theme “TIMELESS” - in demonstrating the extraordinary ability of film to communicate the largest of human stories.
This year’s festival will be held over two locations courtesy of two Official Venue Partners: CINEMAX – Lippo Mall Kuta and CINEMAX Plaza Renon. This year’s BALINALE will open with the screening of “Sultan Agung” directed by Hanung Bramantyo produced by Mooryati Soedibyo. Closing the Festival will be the Japanese file “Shoplifters” directed by Hirozaku Koreeda who won honors at the Cannes Film Festival 2018.
Building on the success of BALINALE 2017, a pre-event BALINALEX – a professional film industry forum will be held at the Ayodya Resort Bali in Nusa Dua on September 23, 2018. The forum will examine the governments role in fostering a film industry, creative aspects, and the commercial considerations in creating a successful film industry.
