Guarding the Body and the Fiery Passion of the Soul

An Exhibition of Metal Sculptures by Agus Kama Loedin at Santrian Art Gallery Through February 28, 2020 in Sanur, Bali

Sculptor Agus Kama Loedin presents an exhibition of metal sculptors themed “Jaga Raga Bara Jiwa“ (Guarding the Body and the Fiery Passion of the Soul) at the Santrian Art Gallery, Griya Santrian Resort & Spa, Jl. Danau Tamblingan 47, Sanur, Bali through February 28, 2020.

Agus Kama Loedin’s latest exhibition presents subtle pieces that boldly display the artist’s skills and deliver a lasting message. Agus has entered the stage of his life in which his thought are inwardly directed, processed through reflection and meditation, only to be reflected and eventually shared via his art sculptures. Much of his work honors the memories of friends, relatives and family members who have passed away. On one level, his sculptures can be seen as prayers comprised of bent, twisted and sinuous wires

The theme of the current exhibition “Jaga Raga Bara Jiwa” has become a mantra for Loedin who seeks personal balance by safeguarding his physical body and keeping alive the passionate flame burning within his soul. Before spiritual inspiration and guidance were recorded in holy books and prayers, mantras were already the medium of language connecting man with the universe. The repetitive recitation of his mantra keeps the Artist’s heart open to new ideas and concepts. Chanted in his workshop while he develops a new wire sculpture, by using mantras Agus kindles and fuels the passionate flame burning in his very soul.

Inevitably, loss brings change. We all must die in the end. The day and age will change when it is time for it to change, joy will fade, and our strength will slowly ebb away. In the interim between conscious adulthood and death - change, transition, and development will occupy our time, fill our place on the planet, and slowly sap our energy. This relentless process demands that “Jaga Raga Bara Jiwa” become a central tenet of our lives in order that we can survive the arduous process called “life” and not be consumed too quickly in the process.

The fatal end is inevitable. Therefore, loss should never be a taboo subject. By managing and experiencing loss we are constantly reminded to remain alert and be grateful for all the things we still enjoy.

The right mantra will strengthen us throughout life’s journey. By believing and repeating that mantra, that to which we aspire will come true.
