The Indonesian Ambassador to London and Ireland, Hamzah Thayeb, has expressed his pride at the coming resumption of service to London by the Indonesian National Carrier Garuda Indonesia and the prospects for further growth in U.K. Visitors to Indonesia.
Speaking to the State News Agency Antara, Hamzah said: “I am proud that Garuda will once again serve the route London-Jakarta. The service of Garuda stands out in comparison to other international carriers.
Ambassador Hamzah’s comment was made while attending World Travel Mart (WTM) in London.
Visiting the Indonesian stand at WTM, the Ambassador sampled a business class seat on display from the Boeing 777-300ER that will operate on the London to Jakarta route commencing on May 24, 2014.
The Boeing 777-300ER will fly non-stops London to Jakarta and depart for Sydney after a short technical stop.
Garuda will join other Asian carriers serving the U.K. market in May – a circle of competitors that includes Singapore Airlines, Malaysian Airlines, Thai Airways, Philippine Airlines and Brunei Airlines.
Garuda has recently received two prestigious awards. Skytrax has acknowledged the quality of Garuda’s economy class service and as having the best economy seating in the world.
Erik Meijer, the director of marketing and sales for Garuda Indonesia, who was also attending WTM, said, “Garuda Indonesia is the only airlines that flies directly Europe to Australia via Jakarta.”
Garuda will fly three times a week between London and Sydney with an intermediate stop in Jakarta.
