The Deputy Chief of Police for Bali, Brigadier General Dewa Putu Anom has died during an official visit to Jakarta on Tuesday, November 26, 2013.
Anom, aged 52, was in Jakarta attending meetings at Police Headquarters when his body was found laying in his bed at the Kartika Chandra Hotel on Jalan Gatoto Subroto.
Scheduled to return to Bali on Tuesday afternoon, a driver sent to bring him to the airport became suspicious when Anom did not appear in the hotel’s lobby at the appointed time. Seeking assistance from the Hotel’s management who open the policeman’s hotel room, he was discovered the dead officer.
Investigators suspect Anom suffered a sudden and massive heart attack.
Born in Gianyar, Bali in 1961, Dewa Putu Anom has held the position of second-in-command for the Bali police since April 2013.
Prior to his assignment as Deputy Chief of Police for Bali, Anom held assignments at the National Police Academy and as the Deputy head of Bali’s elite Densus 88 Anti-terrorism Squad. He has also served as the head of the police precincts in Tabanan and Gianyar.
Plans are for Dewa Putu Anom’s cremation to be held in Gianyar on December 4, 2013.
