Tabanan, Bali Junior High Students Cook a World Record 31,000 Satay Sticks for Lunch

More than one thousand junior high school students from Tabanan have joined forces to create 31,000 sticks of satay earning their effort a place in the Indonesian Hall of Records (MURI).
As reported by Liputan 6, the students had gathered since early morning at the Tuak Iland Terminal in Tabanan where they molded ground fish meats and spices onto satay sticks.
The fish satays were made from ground fresh water fish and sea fish combined with a traditional base sauce.
Satay molded onto sticks the student then roasted the 31,000 meat sticks over hot coals.
The record-breaking BBQ was undertaken to celebrate the 520th anniversary of the city of Tabanan and as part of a local campaign to popularize the consumption of seafood.
