The head of the Bali Tourism Agency, Ida Bagus Subhisku predicts Bali will earn US$5.5 billion in foreign exchange generated by tourism in 2014.
As reported by Bali Daily, the foreign exchange will be generated by a targeted 3.5 million foreign tourists expected to come to Bali in 2014. This will constitute a near 10% increase over the 3.2 million preliminary count of total tourist visits in 2013.
In addition Bali is expecting 6.5 million domestic visitors in 2014.
All projections for 2014 are predicated on the understanding that Bali will remain tranquil during a year in which legislative and presidential elections will be held.
Subhisku is predicting growth in Australian visitors to Bali in 2014, despite the fact that growth in Australian numbers, still the main source of foreign visitors to Bali, remained flat in 2013.
The top tourism official for the province of Bali is also predicting growth in visitors from Japanese and selected European markets.
