BeritaBali.com reports that 68 well-built men from one of Bali’s “mass organizations” unsuccessfully tried to wrest control of the Bali Kuta Residence on Monday, January 20, 2014.
Bali police moved quickly and apprehended the 68 men who were taken by the Denpasar police for intensive questioning.
The hotel is involved in a long-standing legal battle between its owners and banking officials trying to take possession of the property in connection with defaulted loan payments.
Hundreds of uniformed police created a blockade outside the Hotel complex to help enforce a court ruling authorizing the seizure of the asset. The members of the “mass organization” attempting to thwart the execution of the court’s order clashed briefly with police who took the men into custody.
After questioning by police the men were released.
