The State News Agency Antara reports that Bali’s Ngurah Rai Airport counted 3,661 domestic flight departures during the month of January 2014.
The chief of the Bali Statistic Bureau, Panusunan Siregar, said, “These figures represent a 2.71% decline when compared to December when 3,763 domestic departures took place.”
Siregar said the main destinations for domestic flights departing from Bali were Jakarta, Surabaya, Bandung, Yogyakarta and Ujung Pandang.
In January, 203,754 passengers departing for Jakarta were down 1.55% percent from December 2013.
Surabaya departures declined 4.34% in January as compared to December, while Bandung, Yogyakarta and Ujung Pandang all increased 9.12%, 2.91% and 13.49%, respectively.
Siregar added that combined baggage and freight sent on a domestic journey in January totaled 3,740,3 tons, an increase of 4.55% compared to December 2013.
Actual cargo lifted on domestic segments in December declined 3.90% totaling only 644.4 tons.
Panusunan Siregar continued saying that international departures from Ngurah Rai Airport totaled 2,234 flights in January 2014, increasing 6.23% from December when 2,103 international flights departed the Island.
The number of international passenger totals were also up in January when 345,360 passengers left Bali bound for foreign locales. This was a 15.34% increase over January 2013 when 299,432 people flew internationally.
International cargo in January decreased 28.38% in January when compared to December.
