Penfolds Wine Ambassador Simon Cant will travel to Bali on April 16, 2014 to host a wine dinner at AYANA Resort and Spa with a 5-course menu presented by Chef de Cuisine Sebastian Arnold at the resort’s signature fine dining venue, Dava. Wednesday, 16 April 2014
Founded in South Australia in 1844 by Dr Christopher Rawson - a young English physician, Penfold and his wife Mary purchased the Mackgill estate “comprising 500 acres of the choicest land.”
While Christopher saw to doctoring, his wife managed the wine estate in its early day producing wines made from Grenache that her husband recommended to patients suffering from anemia as tonics.
Today Penfolds’ has a reputation of 165 years of quality wine making, saluted as "one of the only true First Growths of the Southern Hemisphere" by English writer Hugh Johnson.
The highlight of the Penfold’s Wine Evening will be the 2009 St Henri Shiraz, rated 100/100 by The Wine Advocate's Robert Parker, and 93/100 by Wine Spectator. The wine pairing will highlight premium wines from Penfolds’ South Australian wineries and the culinary skills Sebastian Arnold, showing why one of Australia’s oldest winemakers continues to remain at the top of its game and Dava remains one of Bali's premier fine-dining venues.
Priced very affordably at only Rp950, 000++ per person (US$85), the evening also includes pre-dinner wine and canapés upon arrival at Dava, and post-dinner sangria at the Resort’s iconic Rock Bar.
