The talented Australian singing duo of Antonio and Kate Villano will return to Bali for a special encore performance on Friday, June 6, 2014, performing on behalf of the John Fawcett Foundation and its mission of returning the gift of sight to Indonesians.

Antonio Villano and Kate Lara

Born in Roccapiemonte in the Campania region of southwest Italy, Antonio Villano migrated with his family to Australia at the age of 9. Teaching himself the guitar and how to sing by listening to a record collection, by the age of 14 Antonio had formed his first gospel band together with two friends and two brothers.

In his 20s, Antonio's first brush with stardom was a fluke. Sean Timms from Timms Tunes needed a singer able to duplicate 30 seconds of Puccini's Nessum Dorma in the style of Luciano Pavorotti for a television commercial. Antonio gave it a try, leaving Timms so impressed that he ended up producing the entire song into a commercial recording for Antonio, igniting a love for the operatic repertoire along the way.

Later, an appearance on ABC Australia led to engagements across Australia and overseas.

A musical and familial partnership was eventually formed between Antonio and Kate Lara who the singing duo “Vogue” that travelled to international engagements where they performed a wide range of musical styles from classical, ballad, jazz, blues, Motown, rock'n'roll and more.

As part of their traveling musical repertoire, thematic programs have been developed by Antonio and Kate that include:

  • Tribute to the Tenors - A classical tribute to the great tenors, both past and present.
  • Tribute to the Greats - A musical live performance of the greatest voices of the 50's, 60's, 70's and 80's.
  • The Neil Diamond Experience - A tribute to the great Neil Diamond.
  • Shirazzamattaz - A classy singing and dance performance including hits from cabaret, burlesque and All that Jazz.
