PT Angkasa Pura I have announced that Bali’s Ngurah Rai International Airport’s Domestic Terminal is now targeted to commence full operations in July 2014.
I Gusti Ngurah Ardit, co-general manager of the company that manages Bali’s airport, told the State News Agency Antara: “We hope that next month (July) the construction of the domestic terminal will be completed and with domestic flight operations moving to the new terminal."
The opening of the new domestic terminal means domestic operations will shift from a corner of the international terminal, freeing up the use of all the intended space designated for international air passengers.
Ardita revealed that the construction of the international terminal is also now completed with finishing of detailed work now underway.
The only remaining work in the domestic terminal is the commissioning of two conveyor belts for passenger luggage.
The completion of the domestic terminal is happening just in time for one of the busiest school holiday periods in Bali.
Ardita pegs growth in traffic at Bali’s airport at 13% over the past year with a total of 15 million passengers expected to pass through the facillity in 2014.
