Beritabali.com reports that some 120 members of the Association of Online Taxi Operators (PTOB) demonstrated in front of the Badung Police Headquarters in Bali on Tuesday, April 11, 2017.

The demonstrators demanded police capture and arrest a group of men that recently beat and sent one of their members to a local hospital.

The PTOB Members gathered at 3:00 pm in front of the police station, parking their fleet of online taxis in a graveyard adjacent to the building.

The coordinator of PTOB, Wayan Suata, said his members are demanding the police thoroughly investigate and prosecute those who attacked one of their members. He pledged that protests would continue until justice was served.

Police eventually agreed to receive a delegation of 5 representatives of the PTOB in order to hear their complaints.

Suata said his members would now circulate the Island and forcibly remove signs and banners banning the activities of online transportation workers.

In a subsequent report in DenPost, Police in Kuta confirmed that four men have been taken into custody in connection with the attack against the online transportation provider Ida Kade Anom (30).

Placed under arrest on Friday, April 7, 2017 were Made Karyawan alias Baglug (24), Ida Bagus Putu Oka Pujana alias Gus Breng (20), Kadek
Sulendra Adi Putra alias Kadek Negara (21), and
I Kadek Suartawan alias Lembek (27).

Police remain adamant, however, that the attack was not linked to rivalry between online transportation drivers and conventional taxi drivers. Instead, they believe Anom was attacked after running into several parked vehicles and attempting to flee the scene.

It appears the men who attacked him were conventional taxi drivers who were pursuing him as fled a local hotel.
.
A police spokesman said the attack on the online taxi driver remained under investigation.
