A 28-year-old New Zealand woman who landed as "high as kite" at Bali’s Ngurah Rai Airport on August 31, 2016, has seen her stay in Bali extended for an additional  2.5 years by judges in a Denpasar courtroom.

The sentence for Myra Lynne Williams  (28) was handed down by the Court on Thursday, April 13, 2017.

As reported by the State News Agency Antara, Myra Lynne Williams, who lives in Mornington, Victoria, Australia was acting incoherently when she presented at immigration and customs at Bali’s airport. While seated on a bench in the custom's terminal area a packet containing 0.43 grams of methamphetamines fell from her pocket.

The sentence of 2.5 years given to the woman was less than the 3 years sought by State Prosecutors.

Speaking through her attorney, Williams said she accepted the sentence of the court and would not appeal the case further. Meanwhile, prosecutors have said they will consider whether or not to seek a harsher punishment for the woman.

William reportedly wept as she was led to a holding cell at the Court after learning that she would be in Bali until at least 2019 before she can return to Australia to meet her 8-year-old son who will then be 11-years-old.
