(5/14/2017)

Foreign tourist arrivals to Bali for Q1 2017 (January-March) totaled 1,330,270 an increase of 21.99% over the 1,090,449 foreign tourists who came to Bali in Q1 2016.

Looking Ahead

If Bali maintains the current 21.99% growth rate in tourist arrivals through the end of 2017 the Island will end the year just short of 6 million foreign tourist visitors.

Q1 2017 Arrivals to Bali by Key Source Markets

Chinese tourists have surged into the top ranking as a source of tourists to Bali sending 394,360 visitors in Q1 of 2017. This represents a 29.65% market share of all foreign visitors and a year-to-date 58.59% increase over the same period in 2016.

Australians, once the top source of Bali visitors, now rank in second-place with 260,503 Australian visitors during Q1 2017. This is a 7.2% improvement over the first three months of 2016 and constitutes a 19.5% market share.

Japanese, who in the now distant past, were the biggest source of Bali visitors, now hold tentative hold on third place with 57,725 visitors in Q1 2017, a 5.2% decrease in comparison with the same period in 2016. Look for Japanese visitors to move into the #4 ranking in April when they get displaced by India.

Indian tourists to Bali are surging, improving 29.85% in Q1 2017 to 52,225 visitors and achieving 4th ranking overall. Indian visitors will supplant Japanese and move into 3rd place in April. The commencement of daily direct flights on AirAsia-X in May will further secure its coming hold on #3 ranking.
