(8/6/2017) reports that the cost of visiting public tourist attractions in the Regency of Gianyar will soon double.

Gianyar officials say the entry charge increase will net an additional Rp. 20 billion in revenues in 2018. Officials point to increased ticket prices at other attractions in Bali in  justifying the price hike, such a Tanah Lot in Tabanan that no charges every visitor Rp. 50,000,

While rules allow admission prices to be reviewed once every three years, Gianyar says prices have remained unchanged for seven years.

Gianyar public tourist attractions will increase their admission cost for adult international tourists from Rp. 15,000 to Rp. 30,000 and from Rp. 7,500 for children to Rp. 15,000. Meanwhile, adult domestic tourists prices will increase from Rp. 15,000 to Rp. 20,000 and for domestic children tourists from Rp. 7,500 to Rp. 10,000.

Regency officials say targeted revenues from Gianyar tourist objects is Rp. 14.5 billion for 2017. At mid-year 2017, only Rp. 10 billion has been collected.

With the planned increase in admission tickets, Gianyar officials expect to collect Rp. 20 billion in fees in 2018.

Among the tourist attractions managed by the Regency of Gianyar are Tirta Empul, Goa Gajah, Gunung Kawi (Tampaksiring), Gunung Kawi (Sebatu), Yeh Pulu, Alam Sindan and Bukit Jati.
