Despite public demonstrations from the people of Sanur demanding more jobs that caused the cancellation of the formal grand opening of the Bali Mandara Hospital on Saturday, October 28, 2017, Bali’s newest hospital is now open for business.

During its first 10 days of operation through November 7th the hospital has served 149 patients.

Quoted by NusaBali, the CEO of the Bali Mandara Hospital, Dr. Gede Bagus Darmayasa, said: “The patients that we have served were both Balinese and foreigners. From the total patient handles, 5 required hospitalization.

60% or 85 of the local patients treated were treated under the State Health Insurance Program BPJS. One of these was a foreigner holding a BPJS card. There were also 64 regular patients and 10 foreigners treated during the first 10 days of hospital operations.

Dr Bagus emphasized that the Bali Mandara Hospital is prepared to serve both rich and poor patients. Adding: "Our principle is to serve the patient and then calculate the cost in accordance with the ability of the patient to pay. A 3rd class room costs Rp. 75,000 per night for the public in a rooms that is of an international standard in terms of facilities and services."

The CEO of the hospital also emphasized that regardless of the class of room or the financial capabilities of those coming to the Bali Mandara Hospital, all receive the same standard of international medical care.

Plans are for the hospital to build a cancer care center and develop services for geriatric patients.
