Bali’s Ngurah Rai International Airport has been named the "Best Airport in the Asia Pacific" in the category of air gateways handling between 15 and 25 million passengers annually.

As reported by NusaBali, the general manager of Bali’s Airport, Rai Yanus Suprayogi, confirmed the most recent in a long string of awards given to Bali’s airport on Wednesday, March 7, 2018.

The award was presented by the Airport Council International (ACI) in the ASQ Awards for 2017.

In 2015 and 2016, the Ngurah Rai International Airport was ranked as the third best airport in its size category.

In the latest ACI Awards, Bali’s Airport earned distinction in three categories. First, the Airport was named the best airport of its size in the Asia-Pacific region (15-25 million passengers annually). Second, Ngurah Rai was designated the best airport internationally in its size category. And, third, Bali's air gateways was named second best airport in the Asia Pacific handling more than 2 million passengers per years.

The awards are presented based on 34 separate criteria that include airport access, check in procedures, security screening, shopping and restaurant outlets, and toilet facilities.

“We are both proud and thankful. This is a birthday present that we present to Angkasa Pura I (the Airport Authority). The challenges we face at the I Gust Ngurah Rai Airport are increasingly difficult due to the continually growing number of passengers and the wide variety of travelers handled. But with good synergy among every component of the airport community, we remain optimistic that we can meet the challenges and improve even further. For this reasons, I express my thanks to all our working partners for their participation and active support in giving the best service to those who use the I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport,” explained Yanus.
