Final arrival statistics for March 2006 are now available showing a slightly higher than originally reported total of 84,109 visitors to Bali for the third month of 2006. This represents a -28.20% decline in foreign visitors from the same month one year before. As presented on balidiscovery.com, a 7 year graphic presentation of Bali tourist arrivals for the first quarter of the year demonstrates the mirror-like adverse impacts of the October 2005 and October 2002 terrorist attacks.

including Bali's four largest source markets of Japan, Australia, Taiwan and South Korea – is down –11.4% March on March. This more moderate downturn for Asia Pacific to some extent camouflages the more than -60% drop in arrivals currently being experienced in Bali's two biggest inbound markets of Japan and Australia.
ASEAN ArrivalsASEAN arrivals to Bali were down a mere -10.2% in March 2006 from one year before. Malaysia and Singapore lead the recovery in that sector.
The AmericasThe Americas – which encompasses all source countries in both North and South America - were down -39.8% in March from the same month in 2005. On a quarter to quarter basis, however, the Americas' arrivals to Bali are slightly better, down only -27.10%.
European ArrivalsA distinct pattern of improving fortunes is evident in arrivals to Bali from across Europe. March 2006 arrivals were down -20.79% from March 2005. However, seen on a quarter to quarter basis European arrivals are down only -14.86% from one year ago.
