Agence France-Presse reports that Indonesia's prestigious Indonesian Open golf tournament is moving to Bali in 2009.
Co-sanctioned by both the Asian and European Tours, the move to Bali is being spiced up with a higher total purse of US$1.25 million, making the tournament Indonesia's richest sporting event.
The Drean Land-New Kuta Golf Resort will host the event, scheduled for February 26 – March 1, 2009.
The Asian Tour Chairman, Kyi Hia Han, explained the that the decision to move the event from Jakarta to Bali after four years was based on a desire to "further spread the gospel of golf across Indonesia."
Last year's tournament was won by Chilean Felipe Aguilar, who beat India's Jeev Milkha Singh by a single stroke.
