The 21st annual Conde Nast Reader's Choice Awards have been announced for 2008 by Condé Nast Traveler magazine with the island of Bali and a number of hotel operators earning places on the prestigious ranking of the world’s best.
On an annual basis since 1988, the sophisticate readers of the travel and life style magazine have cast their votes by paper ballot and, more recently, on line through a secure web site. In 2008, a total of 32,633 responses were filed and then tabulated by Mediamark Research, Inc in New York City.
All nominees are rated on a five-point scale: excellent, very good, good, fair, poor. In the categories of "best island" respondents rates each destination on Activities, Atmosphere/Ambience, Beaches, Friendliness, Lodging, Restaurants, and Scenery.
Bali's a Winner
Here's the Bali Highlight among the winners named in the Conde Nast Reader's Choice Awards:
Best Island Asia-Indian Ocean
The Maldives won top honors with an overall rating of 86.1 with Bali ranked second at 84.2.
