The Tour D'Indonesia bicycle race got underway on Sunday, November 22, 2009 in Indonesia's capital of Jakarta beginning a journey that will travel across the islands of Java and Bali in 10 stages before ending in downtown Denpasar on December 3, 2009, some 1,514 kilometers later.

The Jakarta "start" was in the form of a 12 kilometer team time trial in downtown Jakarta before the 20 participating teams were shifted to Badung, West Java for the actual start of the grueling race across Java to Bali.

Sponsored by Speedy Broadband Access, the participating teams include the Philippines (2), Japan (1), Iran (2), Australia (1), South Korea (1), Malaysia (1), Kazakhstan (1), Russia (1) and Indonesia (11).
