A record number of more than 700 international athletes from over 20 countries participated in the 4th MRA Bali International Triathlon held on Sunday, January 20, 2010, at Jimbaran Bay and the southernmost peninsula of Bali.Olympic Distance
The best time in the Olympic distance of 1.5 kilometer swim, 40 kilometers cycle and 10 kilometer run was recorded by German Jen Wilken racing in the men 30-34 year age group clocking 2:27:22. Meanwhile, Darwin-based athlete Michelle Gailey in Bali to use her accommodation prize won at last year's MRA Bali International Triathlon
and to celebrate her honeymoon clocked the best overall time competing in the women's 25-29 year age group with a time of 2:29:43.
Demonstrating the growing interest in triathlon among Indonesian participants was the overall 14th place finish secured by Kadri Rogar competing in the male 16-24 year old category with a time of 2:38:46 – just 11 minutes off the best overall time.
In the Olympic distance team-relay division, the best time was 2:17:48 clocked in by the Bali Trail Blazers I
followed by the Kartika Plaza I
team at 2:21:12.Sprint Distance
Introduced for the first time at the Bali International Triathlon
was the shorter sprint distance event to welcome athletes unprepared to cover the more arduous Olympic Distance course.
The best overall male time was achieved by Evan Gallagher competing in the male 30-39 year-old category at a time of 1:11:13. The best overall female time was turned in by Evan's wife, Nicole Gallagher in the woman's 30-39 year-old division at 1:21:17.
The best overall time for a team relay in the sprint division was turned in by a group of Bali Lifesavers at 1:11:12.5 Kilometer Fun Run
In the 5 kilometers fun run, Indonesian Artaja was first across the finish line at 17:21.Related Site
