Jakarta Post confirms the allocation of Rp. 1 trillion (US$109 million) to pay for the expansion and renovation of the Bali Ngurah Rai International Airport.
The expansion will increase terminal space from a current 85,000 square meters to 190,000 square meters. The renovations, when completed, will exchange locations between the present domestic and international terminals.
Financed from the cash flows of the airport management company, PT Angkasa Pura, the renovations are scheduled to commence in Q3 2010, subject to agreement by the provincial government, completion of design work and the appointment of a contractor.
Earlier reports has indicated a higher project cost of Rp. 1.7 trillion.
The expansion of the airport will required the demolition of a 170 unit housing complex located at the airport used to by employees of PT Angkasa Pura.
