Indonesia's Vice President Boediono has unveiled a new Rp 1,000 coin and a new, "bluer" Rp 10,000 banknote.
The new coin us made of nickel-coated steel. The coin's faces bear the Indonesian national symbol of Garuda Pancasila and a traditional musical instrument – the "angklung" set before the Gedung Sate - an architectural landmark in Bandung that serves as West Java's governor's office.
The new Rp. 10,000 note will be blue in color, departing from the current red which oftentimes causes tourist visitors confusion in trying to distinguish it from the Rp. 100,000 note.
