On Thursday, August 19, 2010, the Indonesia's national chief of police, General Bambang Hendarso Danuri formally swore in police Inspector General Hadiatmoko as Bali new chief of police, replacing retiring Inspector General Sutisna.
The ceremony elevating Hadiatmoko to his new post in charge of Bali's constabulary was held in Jakarta at national police headquarters in a ceremony that marked the change in command at numerous police commands across Indonesia.
Nusa Bali opines that General Hadiatmoko inherits a number of thorny problems in his new post, including bringing hooliganism in Bali under control.
Bali police spokesman, Sugianyar, says a simpler farewell and retirement ceremony for General Sutisna will be held at Bali's police headquarters in the near future.
Prior to his latest appointment in Bali Hadiatmoko served in the Assistant Head of the Criminal Division Reserve (Wakil Kabareskrim) at the national police headquarters. Prior to that appointment he served at the provincial chief of police in Riau where he gained a reputation for crime-busting in his handling of illegal gambling rings and logging operations.
