GTZ and Bali Government Working to Increases Tsunami Preparedness.

Bali's shore areas of Kuta, Sanur and Tanjung Benoa have received "red" designations as area most prone to damage in the event of a tsunami.
According to the Bali Post, Bali's Center for Disaster Alleviation (Pusdalops – Bali) has surveyed these three areas and concluded that capacity building programs are needed for local communities to develop effective warning systems for tsunamis that will inform all local residents of any threats in the shortest possible time to minimize risk to life and ensure life-saving steps are immediately taken.
The provincial government of Bali is cooperating with Deutsche Gesellschaft für Technische Zusammenarbeit (GTZ) GmbH in the training of local community elements in the highlighted areas in emergency preparedness.
The three beach side areas identified as being at higher risk have been served by tsunami alert sirens since November of 2009. The current readiness training is highlighting on socializing evacuation routes and safeguarding neighborhoods against earthquake and tsunami damage.
Tsunami warning sirens are sounded across Bali at 10:00 am on the 26th day of each month.
