From September 24-26, 2010, the Discovery Kartika Plaza Hotel & Villas will host Oktoberfest 2010,
Staged in a specially constructed tent adjacent to the Discovery Shopping Mall and Discovery Kartika Plaza Hotel, the three-day event is expected to attract between 500 and 1,000 people every day.
In keeping with its Oktoberfest name and like similar events being staged around the world at this time of year of year, the Bali gathering comes complete with lots of beer, authentic German food specialties, traditional games, door prizes and infectious music served up by a 12-piece Ompah-pah band.
Emblematic of a tradition that dates back to 1810 held to honor the marriage of the Bavarian Crown Prince Ludiwg's to Princess Therese von Sachsen-Hildburghausen, the first event was held in Munich on October 12-17, 1810. Over the years in order to take advantage of warmer weather the Oktoberfest moved to September.
Now a staple on Germany's event calendar, the Munich event attracts some six million visitors every year.
The Bali Oktoberfest will operate with the following schedule:
