Italy Meets Singapore in Bali

Chef Oscar Pasinato of Singapore Buko Nero Restaurant at Ayana Resort and Spa Bali September 18-24, 2010.

Bali News: Italy Meets Singapore in Bali

(9/13/2010)

From September 18-24, 2010, Ayana Resort and Spa Bali's Dava Restaurant will host guest chef Oscar Pasinato - the celebrity chef-owner of Singapore's Buko Nero Restaurant.

Born near Venice in the small village of Cittadella, Pasinato trained in the kitchen arts at the Professionale Alberghiero di Castelfranco Veneto, Italy. Armed with his cooking degree he then embarked on a distinguished career working in London, Paris, New York, Puerto Rico, Tokyo, Bangkok, then finally, Singapore.

Since May 2000, Chef Oscar and his Singaporean wife, Tracy, have owned and ran Buko Nero, an Italian-Asian restaurant where the freshest local ingredients are presented with Italian flair. Chef Oscar's approach to food can be described as "keeping it as simple as possible", reflecting, he claims, the influences of the two most important women in his life: his mama and his wife.

His one-week engagement in Bali will present a selection of degustation menus featuring his signature style of modern Italian-Asian cuisine. Menu highlights include Wonton ravioli filled with goose liver, Seared Hokkaido sea scallops, Heirloom tomatoes and fresh lobster salad catalane, Braised Wagyu short ribs wrapped in wong-bok and Manjari dark chocolate tart with home-made peanut butter gelato and raspberry jam.

Guests are welcome to choose from the following menu options:

• 4 course menu: Rp 450,000++(US$60.5)/person, Rp 800,000++ (US$108) with wine pairing

• 5 course menu: Rp 500,000++(US$67)/person, Rp 950,000++ (US$127) with wine pairing

• 6 course menu: Rp 700,000++(US$94)/person or Rp 1,600,000++(US$215)with wine pairing.

Reservations are recommended by calling ++62-(0)361-702222.
