As reported by Wuryastuti Sunario of the prestigious "Indonesian Digest" the World Economic Forum' - Indonesia's competitive rating has moved up ten places over the past year to new ranking of 44 among the 132 countries reviewed in their Global Competitiveness Report 2010-2011.
According to Indonesia Digest:
"On Indonesia, WEF Report mentioned that achievements made were boosted by the country's healthier macro-economic environment and improved indicators in education."
"This position betters India at no. 51. While, among the ASEAN countries Indonesia trails behind Singapore (at no. 3), Malaysia (no. 26), Brunei (no.28) and Thailand (no. 38). China stands at no. 27, while at the top are Switzerland at no. 1, followed by Sweden and Singapore, with the United States trailing at no. 4. "
"Although welcoming the news, Coordinating Minister for the Economy, Hatta Rajasa, said that Indonesia could actually do better, but the country's infrastructure still lags behind, so that the government has placed infrastructure development on its top priority list. However, this needs the support of the private sector which is to be drawn into public-private partnership."
