The Bali tourism service is targeting 4 million domestic tourist visitors for the whole of 2010, based on statistics showing 2 million domestic holidaymakers came to Bali in the first six months of the year.
As reported by beritabali.com, the chief of the Bali Tourism Authority (Kadiparda), Ida Bagus Subhisku told the press on September 18, 2010, that domestic travel to Bali continues to grow, with domestic visitors staying in the entire range of accommodation available on the island – from small "melati" hotels to star-rated resorts and private luxury villas.
Underlining the point, Subhisku pointed to the just completed idul Fitri holidays where 60% of the accommodation rooms in Bali were used by domestic tourists.
With 4 million domestic visitors expected to Bali in 2010, Indonesian holidaymakers will represent roughly two-thirds of all visitors to the island.
