Now in its fourth consecutive year, the BALINALE International Film Festival launches its strongest program of films showing to date featuring with Sony Pictures' "Eat Pray Love" (2010) directed by Ryan Murphy, produced by Brad Pitt and Dede Gardner, starring Academy Award winners Julia Roberts and Javier Bardem, and showcasing local star Christine Hakim. The production numbers among only a handful of major studio films shot in Indonesia.
This year's BALINALE brings together a wealth of creative talent from around the globe, including Jan Chapman, David MichŰd and Rachel Perkins from Australia, China's Xiao Lu Xue, Gaylene Preston and Chelsie Preston-Crayford from New Zealand, Chang-dong Lee from Korea and Erin Heidenreich from USA Ė all presenting their recent films and participating in film industry forums, discussions and workshops.
Held from October 12 to 17, 2010 in Bali, this year's festival film highlights include from Indonesia The Dreamer, 7 Hearts, 7 Loves, 7 Women and I Know What You Did on Facebook. Contributions being screened from nearby Australia are Bran Nue Dae and Animal Kingdom. South Korea's Poetry and New Zealand's Home by Christmas and China's Ocean Heaven will also be shown.
Among the films scheduled to make their Indonesian debuts at the BALINANLE are A Good Day to Die (U.S.A.), Babies (France), Exit Through the Gift Shop (U.S.A./U.K.), The Social Network (U.S.A.), Me Them & Lara (Italy) and Stone (U.S.A.).
