A 30-year-old Haitian tourist, Pierre Wilson, drowned off Kuta beach on Saturday, October 23, 2010.
The man's body was found floating in the surf near Pantai Ganesha, Petitenget on Sunday morning by search and rescue workers and the Bali water police following a night-long search.
Wilson disappeared while swimming in the strong surf off Petitenget beach with friends on Saturday afternoon.
While forensic examination of the man's remains continue, authorities believe his death was due to drowning.
Pierre Wilson was on holiday in Bali where he was staying at the Hotel Paradiso in Seminyak, Kuta.
Police have advised the man's family in Haiti of Wilson's death and are awaiting further contact from a family members in order to handle the final disposition of his body.
The Bali Water Police are warning everyone to exercise caution when swimming on Bali's beaches. Extra caution is warranted, according to the police, in the face the more extreme current weather Bali is experiencing characterized by strong winds, heavy rains and large sea swells.
