On Thursday, November 11, 2010, the Bali police handed their investigative files to Bali State Prosecutor in the arrest of a 43 year-old Australian man, Michael Sacatides, captured at Bali airport with 1.66 kilograms of methamphetamine in his luggage.

Quoted in Kompas.com, public prosecutor Ketut Sujaya said: "We have received the defendant's file from the Bali police headquarters with a copy also sent to his lawyer. Sacatides attended the handover proceeding at the prosecutor's office in Bali accompanied by his lawyer Erwin Siregar."

The paper reported a dramatic change in the physical appearance of the Australian kick-boxing coach since his arrest on October 1, 2010. While he was fit and well toned at that time, he now appears to have lost substantial weight, with his physical condition appearing to be in a state of general neglect. A once shaved head is now framed by a gray beard and graying hair.

The Australian's lawyer Erwin Siregar confirmed the declining health of his client, saying: "He's very skinny. He's certainly under stress. He says he knows nothing about the drugs and doesn't know why he's in jail."

From the time of his arrest Sacatides has maintained the drugs were placed without his knowledge in a borrowed bag lent to him by a friend.

Sacatides can now be charged with sub-sections 112 and 113 of the Anti-narcotics law of 2009 which carries a maximum sentence of death before a firing squad.
