In the run-up to the 20th Annual Rotary Bali Charity Tennis Tournament, the Westin Resort Nusa Dua joined forced with the Rotary Club Nusa Dua and Pure Tennis to share the joys of tennis with a group of 40 Balinese children.
The boys and girls from Bali Life and the Dana Punia Orphanage spent a fun morning of tennis on the courts of the Westin Resort and Spa. The enthusiastic kids were exposed to the game of tennis while enjoying snack, drinks and lunch boxes provided by the resort.
The community outreach event was supported by the
Westin recreation team. Alex and the people from
Pure Tennis provided racquets, balls, training equipment and their time and expertise. Through the course of the morning the kids were put through training drills and given an introduction to basic tennis techniques and skills.
Explaining
The Westin's commitment to Bali's younger generation, Bipan Kapur, the resort's general manager said: "The Westin Nusa Dua, Bali has proudly mentored Dana Punia Orphanage since 2010 and it was indeed a great honor to be part of this worthwhile event. Seeing the smiles on the faces of these children this morning and the happiness generated from the tennis clinic was simply priceless."
"Our ultimate aim is to expose underprivileged children to different experiences that will have a positive impact on their general knowledge and overall development. We have conducted a number of skill-building initiatives including a distance English learning program using Skype. We hope to continue supporting these children to the best of our ability to give them a brighter future."
To allow the children to continue to develop their love of the fame of tennis, racquets donated by
Rotary were given to the orphanage.
