Lee DeWyze, the ninth season (2010) winner of American Idol performed on May 12, 2011, at a private dinner held at the AYANA Resort and Spa Bali.
During an Asian tour to promote his post-Idol album Live It Up, DeWyze sang for 400 people on the cliff overlooking the Indian Ocean at a gala dinner event organized by Fox International Channels as part of the 2011 Asia-Pacific Pay-TV Operators Summit. Strumming a guitar on a small stage and supported only by a pianist, he performed nine songs, including seven original tracks from his new album - Live It Up.
His Bali performance was part of a six-city promotional tour for his first major label-debut album, that includes stops in Bali, Hong Kong, Manila, Taipei, Jakarta and Kuala Lumpur.
After his performance, the singing star visited the nearby Rock Bar for refreshment. Impressed, DeWyze said he hoped his next visit to Bali would be to perform at the Rock Bar. "I'm not just saying this, but this resort and Bali itself, is the coolest place I've ever been. Ayana is definitely the nicest place I've ever stayed," said the singer-songwriter. "Of all the places I've been on this tour, this is my favorite and I plan to come back very soon. I'd love to perform at the Rock Bar."
On how winning American Idol had changed his life, DeWyze said, "It's allowed me to do what I've always wanted to do, but which I wasn't able to do before. Whether it's helping out with charities, traveling around the world, or just doing what I love the most - making my own music, I now have that opportunity."
