The Regent of Badung, Anak Agung Gede Aging has called on the Indonesian Hotel and Restaurant Association (PHRI) to publish a list of illegal commercial villas in Bali, particularly those standing within his jurisdiction of Badung.
Beritabali.com reports that Agung’s calls was made at his office on Wednesday, May 25, 2011.
"I asked that the PHRI urgently announce the hotels and villas operating illegally. Don’t let tourists stay in illegal hotels and villas. The rules must be enforced in the regency of Badung; I’m asking that the PHRI join in socializing this fact,” said the regent.
Agung also revealed that in addition to illegal villas in the Badung regency, there are also international standard hotels operating illegally. “There are international class hotels that are illegal. Scofflaws, who do not want to organize their licenses, with no regard for the rule of law,” complained Agung.
In response, the chairman of the Badung PHRI, Gusti Rai Suryawijaya, added that his organization does not support illegal businesses in Bali, including illegally constituted hotels and villas. “With investment valued at hundreds of billions of Rupiah, it makes no sense that they can’t organize their permits. I will not support illegal businesses of this sort in Bali,” Added Suryawijaya.
