Devdan – Treasure of the Archipelago

Not-to-be-Missed Dazzling Theatrical Performance Opens at Bali Nusa Dua Theatre ‘Devdan – Treasure of the Archipelago’

(6/19/2011)

Following the opening of the Bali Theater at the Bali Safari and Marine Park in late 2010, Bali is now ushering in yet another world-class theatrical venue at the Bali Nusa Dua Theatre.

Located in the very heart of the Nusa Dua Complex, the Bali Nusa Dua Theatre has been designed and built with a state-of-the-art stage, sound and lighting systems. A fully air-conditioned auditorium with a seating capacity of 700, the theatre offers complete handicap accessibility, including seating and restroom facilities.

In additional to regular theatrical performance, the Bali Nusa Dua Theatre has also been designed for privates show and conferences for Bali’s growing meeting, incentive, conference and exhibition (MICE) market.

“Devdan – Treasure of the Archipelago”

The new theater complex has opened with a magnificent, alluring and daring show “Devdan – Treasure of the Archipelago.”

The audience is taken on a magical journey across Bali and beyond - through the Indonesian archipelago. A 90-minute collosal production “Devdan” employs stunning illusions, dazzling costumes, uniquely artistic contemporary cultural dances and heart-stopping aerial acrobatic performances as it weaves a compelling story of the Indonesian people who, in keeping with the national motto, champion the cause of "Bhinneka Tunggal Ika" – Unity in Diversity.

Watch the video clip and see what waits in store at the Nusa Dua Theatre.

The story line is of two Indonesian children lost in the jungles of Bali who make an astonishing discovery that launches a magical journey traveling across the vast expanses of Indonesia. Along their journey through the islands of Bali, Sumatra, Java, Borneo and Papua - the children experience colossal volcanic eruptions, rumbling earthquakes, flowing molten lava and torrential rains realistically recreated in a theatrical setting. Further complementing the dazzling theatrical event are gigantic traditional puppets, dancing huts brilliantly brought to life via high-tech special effects, superb magical illusions and breathtaking feats of acrobatic daring-do.

Contemporary songs and dances, lavishly presented, make this show a “must see” for every visitor to Bali.
