Splish, Splash I was Taking a Bath

Visitors to Baliís Kintamani District Should Make Time for a Soak in Lake Baturís Hot Springs.

While the scenic view of the smoking Mount Batur volcano and Lake Batur are common sights for all visitors to Bali’s scenic crater-side community of Kintamani, few visitors are aware of the chance to soak in the healing sulfuric waters of Mt. Batur that await on the inviting shores of the volcanic lake.

Widely believed to posses healing and restorative powers, the hot springs of Toyabungkah, located only some 80 kilometers from Bali’s capital of Denpasar.

Pools, small inns and changing facilities are available for visitors seeking to experience the volcanic waters that flow at a soothing 38-39 degrees Celsius (100.4 to 102.2 degrees Fahrenheit). Locals swear by the water’s ability to cure a range of illnesses, including skin ailments.

A popular diversion for active visitors is to embark on a before dawn climb of Mt. Batur to view the morning’s sunrise and then visit the hot springs and the mountain’s base on the lakeshore.

The cost of admission to the hot springs managed by the local community is Rp. 50,000 (US$5.70) for domestic tourists and Rp. 100,000 (US$11.40) for foreign visitors.
