Despite recent negative depictions of Bali by TIME Magazine, the world continues to beat a path to the island’s door with monthly arrivals continuing to increase and fees collected by immigration for visas-on-arrival (VOA) increasing 18% in April 2011.
The national news agency Antara, reports that VOA receipts in Bali totaled some US$4.5 million in April 2011.
The figures, provided by Bank Indonesia in Denpasar were included in a report of economic statistics released on Wednesday, July 13, 2011. That report states that VOA revenues collected from foreign tourists coming to Bali for the period January-April 2011 reached US$16.5 million collected from 663,011 foreign visitors.
