Beritabali.com reports that the Tanah Lot Villa and Spa, located in close proximity to Bali’s iconic sacred temple of Tanah Lot, is encountering difficulties in renewing its operational permit because the business tresspasses the “sacred radius” surrounding important religious sites where commercial buildings are banned.
A member of Commission II of the Tabanan House of Representatives (DPRD-Tabanan), Ida Bagus Kade Adnyana Suryawan, said: “The location of the Tanah Lot Villa and Spa is within the sacred area of the Tanah Lot temple. This clearly violates the sacred radius of the temple.”
Suryawan is calling for the operating permits for the Tanah Lot Villa and Spa not to be extended. “I recommend that the extension now being processed not be issued,” he added. The government of Tabanan must be firm in putting the breaks on in order that the permit is not issued. Don’t let the presence of the Tanah Lot Villa and Spa have a negative social impact on the people,” Suryawan said.
Beritabali.com is suggesting that the Tanah Lot Vila and Spa has backing from key officials in Tabanan, strong enough to ignore and overcome any objections to renewal of operating permits tied to violations of “no build” prohibitions surround the Tanah Lot Temple. To this end, the official charged with Tanah Lot from the Tabanan Administration, I Wayan Diasa, has already issued a recommendation for the extension of the current operating permit.
