The Commonwealth Tournament of Champions takes place in Bali November 3-6, 2011 at the Bali International Convention Center, Nusa Dua.
The eight players traveling to Bali to compete in the season-ending championship in the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) are the six highest ranking International Series tournament winners and two defending champions granted two wildcards in Bali:
- Marion Bartoli,
- Sabine Lisicki
- Roberta Vinci
- Daniela Hantuchova
- Anabel Medina Garrigues
- Anna Ivanovic – Wildcard
- Peng Shuai – Wildcard
Tickets are still available for center court action as female tennis greats vie for prize money of US$600,000
"We are delighted to have such a strong player field in what will be the final year of operating the Tournament of Champions in Bali. We look forward to welcoming them and I know that everyone in Bali is looking forward to an exciting event," said Kevin Livesey, tournament director of the
Commonwealth Bank Tournament of Champions.
Arguably the most popular tournament on the
WBA tour, this Bali stop has been a fixture since it was first held on the island in 2001. The 2011 tournament, however, will be the final time the event is hosted in Bali. A lack of financial support from a major sponsor will see Bali replaced by Sofia, Bulgaria.
