A group from the House of Representatives for Bali’s capital of Denpasar (DPR-Denpasar) are calling on 24-hour convenience stores operating in the city to employ round-the-clock security guards.
DenPost quotes DPR-Denpasar legislative member I Ketut Resmiyansa who bemoans the fact that there are no special regulations governing the operation of 24-hour convenience stores selling alcoholic beverages. Resmiyansa continued: “Businesses must provide security guards if their stores remain open 24 hours a day."
Resmiyansa’s recommendation was also supported by legislator Eko Supriadi who wants security precautions to become a part of the approval process for individuals seeking to obtain licenses to open stores that remain open through the night.
Supriadi said that the roadside convenience stores in Bali have become targets for criminal activity.
