The 7th anniversary of the 2005 Bali bombing in Kuta and Jimbaran that killed 20 and injured 129 others was commemorated on October 1, 2012, at Nyoman’s Café in Jimbaran, the site of one of the bombings.
According to Beritabali.com, the commemoration was jointly organized by Pengurus Besar Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU); the association of wives, husbands and children of the Bali Bomb (Isana Dewata); a local foundation dedicated to nationalism, an organization dedicated to peace and pluralism - Lazuardi Biru; and various other organizations opposed to terrorism.
The former chairman of Mantiqi III Jama’ah Islamiyah, Nasir Abaz, also attended the commemoration ceremony.
Also invited to attend were 35 students, 12 Islamic teachers from 12 junior and senior high schools in the Badung regency. Ni Luh Erniati, the head of Isana Dewata, explained, “We purposefully invited them to instill an understanding of the dangers of terrorism and prevent terrorism in the future.”
The commemoration included the presentation of the film of “Say No to Terrorism,” a talk show discussion on terrorism, poetry readings, floral commemorations and joint prayers.
