A 66-year-old Australian tourist, Igor Janco, was found dead in Room 2115 of the Bali Hyatt Hotel in Sanur on Thursday, February 7, 2013.
The man was discovered naked on his bed with bloody wounds on his head.
Hotel staff broke open the man’s double-locked door, when Janco failed to respond to repeated door knocks.
When the door was finally opened by hotel staff, they found the man unclothed, dead and with blood stains on the bed.
The man had checked into the hotel on February 1, 2013 for a planned stay of 8 days.
Police were immediately called to the scene where they secured the area and collected statements from hotel staff.
A police forensic officer told the Bali Post that the preliminary indications are that the man had been drinking, fell and injured his head. The man was also believed to have been in a weakened state, suffering from diarrhea.
Police confirmed that all the man’s personal effects remain untouched within the room. Numerous medications and a physical examination of Janco’s body confirm that the Australian suffered from a number of ailments, including a diseased liver.
Police and medical experts now believe that the Australian’s liver hemorrhaged shortly before his death.
