Standing in the location of the former “PJs”
– the new restaurant bears little resemblance to its predecessor. Gone is the relaxed informality of a beachside eatery, now replaced by a chic and utterly elegant venue that, in the days since its opening, has immediately raised the bar on an Island known for its world-class beach side dining options.

Unchanged in the multi-million dollar transformation from PJs
is the locationon Bali’s picturesque Jimbaran Bay. “Sundara”
that in Sanskrit means “beautiful
” is said to pay tribute to the glowing sun what warms the restaurants beachside location.
And beautiful, too, is the reflection Sundara
casts on the adjoining waters of the Indian Ocean. An azure lap pool forms an aquatic border between Sundara
and the ocean, peppered with deck chairs and cabana seating for those wishing to while away a tropical afternoon.
Inarguably already in the running as one of Bali’s top dining destinations, Sundara
offers the perfect mix of five-star flair and relaxed beach-club vibe. With its direct beachfront location and panoramic views of Jimbaran Bay, Sundara
provides a sexy and sophisticated hideaway – all day from lunch until late night.
“Sundara will become a must-see landmark for all of Bali,” says Michael Branham, general manager of Four Seasons Resort Bali at Jimbaran Bay.
“We’re creating a very social meeting place that will attract a stylish crowd from well beyond our Resort. It’s part of our ongoing desire to evolve and deliver an outstanding and exciting experience for our guests.”
Designed by Koichi Yasuhiro from Tokyo’s renowned Design Studio SPIN,
the beachfront Sundara f
eatures 2,923 square meters spread across two levels, including a variety of indoor and outdoor settings. Two soaring Balinese-style pavilions create a distinctive roofline, while inside the décor combines Bali’s unique artistic heritage with an ambiance of relaxed luxury. The focus is always on views of the beach and the wide curve of Jimbaran Bay.
The kitchen is ably helmed by executive chef Greg Bunt who, with the restaurant’s general manager Jan-Peer Lehfeldt, give Sundara
a feel that is modern yet relaxing; cutting edge yet natural.
The menu is eclectic and international. For lunch, guests choose from shared plates of sushi
, salads and wood-fired pizzas, served on the open-air rooftop deck with panoramic views. For the afternoon, guests may book a day bed by the infinity edge pool, change into swimsuits and enjoy cocktails and casual cuisine by the water.
In the evening, Sundara
transforms into one of Bali’s most sophisticated dining experiences. Guests can expect an abundance of vibrant, innovative and classic flavors, celebrating steak and seafood. Late at night, the beachside mood will be candlelit and seductive with innovative wine and cocktail selections.
One pavilion is dedicated to dining with the first floor wrapped around a working kitchen. Meanwhile, upstairs three dining rooms offer sophisticated dining overlooking the ocean and pool below.
The other pavilion, separated by an al fresco
garden from the dining area, is home to a relaxed lounge and bar where a DJ presents music to accompany an extensive cocktail and wine menu.
Ensuring Sundara’s warm and welcoming atmosphere, there’s a constant emphasis on service, promising a relaxed and friendly attitude with sophisticated polish.
