The Deputy Chief of Police for the province of Bali, Brigadier General I Ketut Untung Yoga Ana, has issued a reminder to the Bali constabulary to remain neutral and impartial in the period leading up to the election of the next governor of Bali set for May 15, 2013.

Quoted in the National News Agency Antara, Yoga, speaking on a visit to the North Bali police precinct at SIngaraja on Tuesday, February 12, 2013, said, “Let’s not have any police show any partisanship for any single candidate.”

Such a reminder, in the view of Yoga, is necessary given that one of the men running for Bali’s Chief Executive is a retired policeman and the former Chief of Police for the Island, Made Mangku Pastika.

Pastika is seeking reelection for a five-year term in 2013 with I Ketut Sudikerta, the vice-regent of Badung, as his running mate. The two men are the coalition candidates of the Democratic, Golkar and 7 other political parties.

Yoga ordered the Bali police, particularly those assigned to intelligence roles, to work tirelessly, seeking out every problem for resolution and promoting pro-active communication to help safeguard peace and public order.
