Bisnis Bali reports that a survey conducted by the Provincial Tourism Service of Bali (Dispar) shows that 30% of the foreign tourists responding concluded that Bali is badly contaminated by trash.
The chief of the Bali Tourism Service, IB Kade Subhisku, speaking to the press on Thursday, March 21, 2013, warned that the government and the public must take joint steps to change Bali’s image as an "island of trash."
Subhisku revealed that a survey of visitors conducted in 2012 showed that 15% of domestic tourists and 34% of foreign tourist visitors held negative perceptions of the island linked to cleanliness and trash issues.
Subhisku said his office would be coordinating with the provincial environmental office to step up current efforts to make “Bali Clean & Green.”
